Good to see that all the greens have now been treated. Hopefully this lousy weather we’re having currently will help the new seed to start germinating and we’ll see some tangible growth before too long.
Monday saw the first session for the Ladies Golf Academy, organised by Graham Naylor and coached by Connor Steels (Assistant Professional, Chevin GC).
All five ladies returned from their first group coaching session on the practice field with broad smiles, stories of personal successes and an eagerness to return next week for more. Even more importantly they’d immediately bonded as a group. Hopefully, they’ll get the golfing bug and become regular attendees down at Shirland.
Pictured here with Graham and Connor.
Graham advises that if another 5 ladies sign up we may start a second group on another night in the week. A couple of expressions of interest have already been received, so spread the word, please.
Thank you to everyone who has taken part in this year’s knockout competition, and for keeping to the schedule. The objectives of the competition have been met and we should have no problems completing this year’s championship.
At the moment we have just 5 players still in the competition. Dean Horner and Darren Smith play the last if the quarter finals imminently, the winner will play (my second round conqueror) Wayne Morris in the semi final. The other semi will be contested by Barry Bacon and Paul Mellor. All the best to them all.
Right, the forecast for the weekend is for improving weather. Have a good one.
