It doesn’t feel so much like summer this week, but hopefully things are looking up after this weekend.
We have over 200 members at Shirland, and naturally I will only know a proportion of you. Hopefully that will change over time, though current restrictions are a hindrance in that regard. I did enjoy a chance conversation with Barry Hartley in the car park earlier this week. I was delighted to hear that a member I’d not previously encountered was enjoying reading my blogs.
This week I’ve been down to the course a few times, whilst on a week’s leave, although not to play golf. I hope you like the work I’ve been doing to make the tee and fairway yardage markers a little more visible. (Still a few to finish off).
Next week Graham Naylor has arranged for the first intake of the Ladies Golf Academy. Coaching starts on Monday evening. Good luck to all the ladies taking part. With any luck some will catch the golfing bug and develop into full members of the ladies section in the future.
Finally, please keep an eye out for details of our Open and Invitation competitions which we’ll be issuing soon. As a heads up the dates will be:
19 August Seniors Open
13 September Invitation Day
19 September Captain’s Charity Day
4 October 4-Man Texas Scramble.
If you do have any successes in any other Open competitions elsewhere, please do let me know, and we can acknowledge them through this blog.
Enjoy your golf.
